UCI World Cup / USABMX Nationals Chula Vista CA

The final stop on the UCI BMX World Cup Series was once again held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. Anthony Dean has had a great SX season so far this year and going into the last round he sat in 2nd place with a mathematical shot at the overall title. What an awesome achievement in his first full year here in the states and racing the tour. The day’s racing started out well – Anthony was putting in some solid laps and transferred through the quarter final into the semi but unfortunately went down hard battling for the 4th place transfer spot. Just to be safe, Anthony was transported to the hospital for checks. He unfortunately suffered a concussion and some broken teeth alongside being a bit battered and bruised. It is definitely time for some down time including some rest and relaxation. On a positive note, Anthony still finished off the year in points in 2nd place in the UCI World Cup 2014 Overall. We’re very proud of him.

Alongside the World Cup, USA BMX held the Hall of Fame Nationals on the smaller track where our own, Cristian Becerine and Bryce Betts did battle for the weekend. Bryce didn’t have the greatest of weekends but still managed to make some mains and represent well. Cristian was on a good roll this weekend winning both days and more points toward the title chase in Tulsa this coming Thanksgiving. All in all, a good solid weekend with some ups and downs – we’re all glad Anthony is ok. Keep an eye on or social media channels for more updates.
